Like promised, Warner Bros has released the first official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. The trailer for the DC Comics film was first shown during a Livestream at CCPX currently taking place in Brazil. Judging by the trailer, Diana and Barbara will start out as friends before becoming foes, as the trailer features a scene were Diana (Gal Gadot) chatting to Barbra Minerva (Kristin Wiig) about past loves. The trailer also confirmed that Lord will have the ability to grant people’s wishes instead of the mind-controlling ability in the comic book.
Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the 80s 1980s during the Cold War between the US and the then-Soviet Union, and will see Diana Prince/Wonder Woman face the new villain, Barbara Ann Minerva(Cheetah). The movie will also see Chris Pine return as Steve Trevor. The film was previously set for December 13, 2019, and then moved to November 1, 2019, before settling on June 5, 2020 release date.
Wonder Woman 1984 is the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins. Jenkins wrote the film with Geoff Johns and David Callaham. Gal Gadot made her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), before making her full debut in Wonder Woman (2017) and Justice League (2017). The first Wonder Woman film was the highest-grossing movie of summer 2017 earning $412.5 million in the US and $821.8 million worldwide.
