Warner Bros. Japan began streaming on its official YouTube a trailer for Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Beginning, the second live-action movie based on Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin manga series. The trailer features a preview of Kenshin’s days as the Isshin Shishi rebels’ assassin Battōsai, and his meeting with Tomoe. In addition, the film’s official website also unveiled a new poster(See below).
Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Beginning, will open in Japan on June 4, 2021. The first film, Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Final, will open on April 23. The film will be based on the manga’s “Jinchū” arc, however, it will feature an original story different from the story in the manga.
The film focuses on Kenshin’s past as the assassin Hitokiri Battōsai during the final years of the Bakumatsu and will also explore his relationship with a woman named Yukishiro Tomoe. In the film, Kenshin Himura goes up against mysterious weapons dealer Enishi, who controls the underworld of China. The secret of Kenshin Himura’s “Jujishou” is also revealed.
Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Beginning cast includes Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Himura, Issei Takahashi as Katsura Kogorō, Nijirō Murakami as Okita Sōji, Masanobu Andou as Takasugi Shinsaku, Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya, Munetaka Aoki as Sanosuke Sagara, Yū Aoi as Megumi Takani. Yosuke Eguchi as Hajime Saitō, Kasumi Arimura as Tomoe Yukishiro, Yusuke Iseya as Aoshi Shinomori and Tao Tsuchiya as Misao Makimachi. Mackenyu will play the main villain Enishi Yukishiro, and Riku Ōnishi will replace Kaito Ōyagi as Yahiko Myojin.
