Production on Venom movie sequel is now underway. The news was shared by Tom Hardy early today. Hardy, who plays Eddy Brock in the movie revealed the news on Instagram Saturday. The actor posted an image of himself in the makeup room for the first day of shooting Venom 2 with the caption, “W3’R’V3NOM2 day one”. The image was immediately deleted but not before fans took a screenshot of the post.
Venom movie sequel will be directed by Black Panther and Planet of the Apes actor, Andy Serkis. He is best known for his motion-capture performance for Gollum in LOTR, Caesar in Planet of the Apes and Snoke in The Last Jedi. He also appeared as Ulysses Klaue in Black Panther. Serkis also directed Breathe and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. He also served as the second unit director on The Hobbit trilogy.
So far not much is known about the Venom expect that Tom Hardy will return to reprise his role as Eddie Brock and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady/Carnage. Venom 2 script is written by Kelly Marcel. The Marvel and Sony Pictures film is set to hit theaters next October. The first Venom film was released in 2018. The movie earned over $850 million at the international box office.
Venom, or the Venom Symbiote, made his first appearance in 1988’s The Amazing Spider-Man #300. The comic book character was created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. Venom made his first Live-action made appearance Spider-Man 3 and was portrayed by actor, Topher Grace. Venom was originally conceived as a supervillain, but like Deadpool, the character has since become more of an antihero.
