Idris Elba Rumoured To Play Deathstroke In James Gunn’s relaunch of The Suicide Squad.

We might have bit of news concerning Idris Elba’s character in James Gunn’s relaunch of The Suicide Squad. That’s if rumours counts as news. According to podcaster Robbie Fox latest tweet, Elba is set to play Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in the movie.



The British actor originally set to replace Will Smith as DeadShot in the movie of SUICIDE SQUAD 2 after Smith had to leave the role due to scheduling conflicts. This means Elba will replace Joe Manganiello who portrayed the character in the Justice League movie.

Gunn’s relaunch of The Suicide Squad movie stars Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Idris Elba in an undisclosed role. Other rumoured cast includes John Cena as Peacemaker, Michael Rooker as King Shark and David Dastmalchian as Polka Dot Man.

The first Suicide Squad movie grossed $745 million worldwide, with an all-star cast consisting of Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne.

The Suicide Squad first version of debuted in The Brave and the Bold #25 (Sept. 1959), and was created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Ross Andru. The team included Rick Flag, Jr., his girlfriend Karen Grace, Dr. Hugh Evans, and Jess Bright. The second and modern version, created by John Ostrander, debuted in Legends #3 (Jan. 1987).
