The Loki live-action web series will take place after the Avengers: Endgame and might see Captain America make an appearance, the movie directors have confirmed. Joe and Anthony Russo tells Entertainment Weekly that it is Captain America job to catch Loki after he escaped with the Tesseract during event of Endgame. The series will explore the alternative reality Loki created after he teleported with the Tesseract which contained the Time Stone.
“Loki, when he teleports away with the Time Stone, would create his own timeline. It gets very complicated, but it would be impossible for [Cap] to rectify the timeline unless he found Loki,” Joe told EW. “The minute that Loki does something as dramatic as take the Space Stone, he creates a branched reality.”
“We’re dealing with this idea of multiverses and branched realities, so there are many realities,” Anthony revealed.
Tom Hiddleston is expected to reprise his role as Loki… Michael Waldron will serve as the showrunner and an executive producer for the series, as well as write the pilot episode. Kevin Feige is also set to serve as an executive producer. The first season will premiere in between 2020 and 2021, during the second year of Disney+.
