Watchmen was created by writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins. The limited series comic-book was published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987. A live-action film adaptation directed by Zack Snyder was released in 2009. A video game series, Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, was also released the same years as the Watchmen live-action film.

Watchmen is set to debut on HBO in 2019. The TV series stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, and Dylan Schombing. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on characters from DC.
