Warner Bros. Japan has revealed that the Tokyo Revengers live-action movie will open in theaters on July 9, 2021. The film based on Ken Wakui’s manga series of the same was scheduled to release in Japan on October 9, 2020, but the film’s crew halted filming in April due to the CODVID-19 outbreak. The film is being directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (live-action Kakegurui).

Written and illustrated by Wakui, the series has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since March 2017. The manga won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2020. The anime television series based on the manga series will premiere in April 2021.
