Neftlix has announced The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf anime movie. The film will center around Vesemir, Geralt’s mentor. The Witcher anime film will tell Vesemir story before the White Wolf and will base on the book. The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender’s Studio Mir is animating the film with The Witcher series’ showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and writer Beau DeMayo. According to Netflix, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolftells the story of Vesemir, a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin.
“The show is… It’s funny because it’s such a unique property. Because the show is based on the books and not the game. It’s been an interesting thing to control that perspective, in terms of, we were looking at the books, always looking at the books. And there’s always going to be some similarities because they’re all coming from the same mothership, basically.”
“But the anime itself, for as much as I can say about it, because as you know, Netflix, as well,” DeMayo said. “It is definitely something that is in canon with our live-action series.”
The movie will serve as the character’s introduction before he makes his live-action debut in The Witcher season 2. Vesemir will be played by Kim Bodnia in the series.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf premieres August 23, 2021 worldwide on Netflix.
