THE BATMAN is expected to resume production now that the United Kingdom has lifted the film shooting ban. Colin Farrell, who will portray The Penguin in the movie, has revealed that he can’t wait to get back shooting his scenes. The actor reveals in a recent talk with Comicbook.com that the Penguin won’t play a huge role in the movie, but he has a couple of some tasty scenes. Farrell also added that his version of The Penguin is from his own creation and will be fun.
I had only started it and I can’t wait to get back. The creation of it, the aesthetic of the character, has been fun and I really am so excited to get back and explore it. And I haven’t got that much to do. I have a certain amount in the film. I am not all over it by any means. But there are a couple of some tasty scenes I have in it and my creation and I can’t wait to get back. Yeah, I totally feel like it is something that I have not had the opportunity to explore before. It feels original and fun. But I am only at the start of the journey so I can’t wait to get back and really get into it.
A photo from THE BATMAN showing Farell wearing an overcoat and carrying an umbrella sporting white/silver hair and mustache has hinted that he could be playing emperor Emperor Penguin in the movie.
In the comics, Ogilvy is a criminal who worked for the Penguin. He climbed the rank and eventually overthrown the Penguin. Ogilvy became his own boss under the name Emperor Penguin and later Emperor Blackgate, after using a combination of several drugs given to him by Poison Ivy.
The Batman will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. Sarsgaard has been cast in an undisclosed role.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
