Today Kamen Rider and Super Sentai got some really sad news, both franchises will go their separate ways. Toei’s director of Planning and Production, Shinichiro Shirakura, has revealed that Kamen Rider Saber X Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki movie will be the last crossover movie between the two Universe. Speaking to Cinematoday, Shirakuna revealed the reason behind the move was due to the Super Sentai franchise celebrating its anniversary a year later to match Kamen Rider’s.
Shirakuna, who’s also one of the producers of the Kamen Rider series, said in the interview that Toei decided to Kamen Rider Saber X Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki because this year was Kamen Rider’s 50th Anniversary and Super Sentai’s 45th Anniversary. The company decided to make the movie because of the milestone but might also be the last crossover movie.
This year especially is Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary & Super Sentai 45 Works Commemoration year. It’s a big milestone, so we felt that we have to do this. This might be the first & also the last time as Double Anniversary Movie. I felt the sense of mission and decide to make this.
He said Toei is planning to shift the anniversary for Super Sentai so that it can be separated from the Kamen Rider’s.
From now on we are planning to shift to the ‘Anniversary’ for Super Sentai Series, so Kamen Rider will get deviated from them. Due to this, this will be the last Kamen Rider & Super Sentai Crossover. Considering this as an oppurtunity, Super Sentai Series & Kamen Rider Series will get separated. We are thinking that they walk their separate ways in the future. This is considered as the starting point for it.
Kamen Rider Saber + Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki will premiere in Japanese cinemas this July 22, 2021.
