Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns for a seven and final season.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns for a seven and final season.

According to Lucasfilm Animation head Dave Filoni, the seventh season is the final chapter of the animated series. Filoni made the reveal in a recent interview with IGN.

“I think it’s time to bring that chapter to a close,” he said. “It is the end of the Clone Wars, but I think when you see it, you’ll see why. It’s a really good thing, but that’s not to say it can’t launch other exciting things as well.”

Created by George Lucas, Star Wars: The Clone Wars began with a theatrical feature film released on August 15, 2008, before debuting on Cartoon Network on October 3, 2008. The series is set between Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 will begin broadcast on Disney’s new streaming service in February 2020.
