Star Trek: Two new animated series confirmed in development.

ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish revealed at the company’s 2019 earnings call that two more Star Trek television shows are in the works. A Star Trek: Discovery spin-off entitled Star Trek: Section 31 has been announced as well as two animated series: one called Star Trek: Lower Decks and an untitled one on Nickelodeon.

Star Trek: Section 31 will star Michelle Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou and is set to begin production after Discovery Season 3 ends. On the other hand, nothing is known about both an animated series expect that the Nickelodeon series will be an animated comedy series.

The first series Star Trek: The Animated Series (Star Trek, The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek) originally aired from September 8, 1973, to October 12, 1974, on NBC over two seasons. The series is second in the Star Trek franchise and sequel to Star Trek: The Original Series.
