TOHO announced as part of its 2020 theatrical release lineup that the new Doraemon anime movie will be a sequel to the 2014’s “STAND BY ME Doraemon“. The new film titled “STAND BY ME Doraemon 2,” will be a 3DCG animated film. In addition, TOHO also released a teaser visual.
The first film Stand by Me Doraemon earned $183.4 million at the box office with a budget of $35 million. It is the highest-grossing film of the Doraemon franchise. The film is based on the Doraemon manga series. TOHO also revealed that the Pokémon anime franchise will release a new anime movie for the first time in two years.
Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko published the Doraemon manga series in January 1970, under the name Fujiko Fujio. Doraemon is also one of the best-selling manga in the world. The series revolves around an earless robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a boy named Nobita Nobi.
