Last week MCU fans were at dismay when Sony Pictures announced that the company was pulling off Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But looks like Sony already has huge plans for the third installment of the Spider-Man movie franchise.
Tom Holland made an appearance at Keystone Comic-Con in Philadelphia over the weekend and revealed that Sony planning on expanding the Spider-Man world with crossovers.
“It’s really exciting, the ideas we have for how we can expand the Spider-Man world and bring new characters into it, and crossover with other people, it’s really exciting. And it’s only going to get bigger and better from here, which is great.”
Holland also revealed that Spider-Man 3 has already been pitched and says the film “going to be something very special, it’s going to be something very different”.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man made his debut Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War (2016), with Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) also being part of the MCU. Far From Home was suppose to be the first movie from the MCU phase 4 but was late change to the last movie of the MCU phase 3.
