With the coronavirus still out there it will take time before moviegoers start attending cinemas in full force again. Most studios are now being cautious about their film releases and wouldn’t say they are wrong with the numbers TENET and THE NEW MUTANTS have pulled at the Box office.
Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tony Vinciquerra has revealed that the company will not release their blockbuster project which includes VENOM 2, MORBIUS and SPIDER-MAN, Until Pandemic Is Over.Vinciquerra made reveal at Bank of America’s 2020 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference.
“What we won’t do is make the mistake of putting a very, very expensive $200 million movie out in the market unless we’re sure that theaters are open and operating at significant capacity.”
This means Morbius, Spider-Man 3, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage may be moved from their 2021 slated release dates. It’s also luckily that Disney and Warner Bros. may do the same with BLACKWIDOW and WONDER WOMAN 1984.
Do you think it will be wise for the companies to release their slated projects digitally like MULAN?
