The staff for the television anime series of Okina Baba and Tsukasa Kiryu’s So I’m a Spider, So What? (Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?) light novel have unveiled the show’s first key visual. The anime was first announced by the wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of the manga adaptation on July 6, 2018. Kadokawa confirmed the news the same day at Anime Expo.
Baba originally began serializing the light novel as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō’s user-generated website from May 27, 2015. Fujimi Shobo later acquired the rights to publish the series for print publication in December 2015 with illustrations by Tsukasa Kiryu. Yen Press announced during their panel at Sakura-Con on April 15, 2017, that they had licensed the series. A manga adaptation by Asahiro Kakashi launched in the Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up manga website on December 22, 2015. The manga is also licensed by Yen Press.
