SIU Reveals Tower of God Won’t Continue As He’s Stepping Away Due To Depression and Lack of Rest.

SIU says he doesn’t know when he will return writing the series again.

As fans patiently wait for the second season of Tower of God, the manhwa creator SIU has announced that he will stop working on the series due to physical and mental health issues. SIU, real name Jong-hui, revealed in a lengthy blog post that he suffers from depression due to the amount of work it takes to supervise and write the series manuscripts weekly. SIU cited the lack of sleep, sore back, wrist, and the amount of pressure he feels to deliver a great manuscript in time for publishing on a weekly basis. The creator says he will step away from writing the Tower of God with immediate effect.

SIU apologized to fans and says it seems that there are a lot of things that he lacks as a writer. He said he “doesn’t know how long it will take, but take a rest as well as possible,” adding that he “will prepare and return when the time comes“. He says he doesn’t know when he will return. SIU reveals that if one day he decided to return to the series or news comes up, he will post one more notice. The writer says although many people think that he’s a successful writer, he experienced so many failures. He says he feels stuck and unhappy that’s why he couldn’t continue writing.

Lee Jong-hui launched the Tower of God in 2010 as the first story in the “Talse Uzer” universe. The Webtoon has been translated into Japanese and English by Naver. Tower of God received a mobile game in 2013 developed by Sunrise.

Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open a door into it as well and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion
