The Rock “Dwayne” Johnson’s Black Adam movie has found it Doctor Fate. According to THR, Pierce Brosnan will play Kent Nelson, the original version of Doctor Fate created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Howard Shermanaka. Brosnan is allegedly the last key member of the Justice Society in New Line’s upcoming DC Comics movie. The former James Bond actor will join The Rock “Dwayne” Johnson (Black Adam), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) in DC Extended Universe.
Kent Nelson became Doctor Fate after he discovered the tomb of the wizard Nabu and was trained by him in the ways of sorcery and given the magical Helmet of Fate in order to fight crime and the forces of evil. Nelson was a founding member of the Justice Society of America. The character first appeared in More Fun Comics #55 (May 1940). Nelson was portrayed by Brent Stait in the television series Smallville.
Black Adam is scheduled to open in theaters in 2022.
