Viacom’s Nickelodeon Group president ,Cyma Zarghami, has revealed that a new “SpongeBob SquarePants” animated film will be hitting the big screen soon. The announcement was made during Zarghami a guest appearance on the process entertainment conglomerate’s quarterly earnings conference call to discuss the success of Nickelodeon on Thursday.
It’s not sure if the new film will be a sequel to the 2015 “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water,” , but Zarghami says “there will definitely be another SpongeBob movie” with Paramount.
SpongeBob SquarePants cartoons show was created by Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. Hillenburg took many of the show’s ideas from her 1989 unpublished educational comic book titled The Intertidal Zone. The character was first named SpongeBoy, and the series was to be called SpongeBoy Ahoy!, but were both changed, as the name was already trademarked. The anime show premierednon July 17, 1999.
The first SpongeBob SquarePants film was released in 2004. the animated movie grossed around $140,161,792… The second “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water,” grossed aroind, $140,161,792 and $325,186,032, respectively, from the global box office. “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” was the first release under studio Paramount Animation.
The new “SpongeBob SquarePants” movie has a tentative August 2, 2019 release date.
