End of August we have our first look at Portgas D.Ace backstory manga by Dr. Stone artist. Boichi’s Portgas D.Ace manga is out in Japan, and so are the scans. Thanks to Twitter user YonkouProd we have the One Piece Novel Ace manga ‘Episode A’ color-spread by Boichi.

The One Piece manga series will adapt the novel from “Durarara!!” Author and “Bleach tie-in Spirits Are Forever With You” writer, Ryohgo Narita. Gol D. Ace’s backstory will include his departure from Mt. Colubo, the formation of the Space Pirates, and an early meeting with Jinbe, leading to his time as a Whitebeard Pirates commander.

One Piece Novel Ace Manga Adaptation 'Episode A' Colour-spread by Boichi

Portgas D. Ace, born as Gol D. Ace and nicknamed ”Fire Fist” Ace, was the adopted older brother of Luffy and Sabo, and son of the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger and his lover, Portgas D. Rouge. He was adopted by Monkey D. Garpas wished by Roger to him before his birth. Ace was the 2nd division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and one-time captain of the Spade Pirates.
Hunted by the World Government for his lineage, Ace was captured and sentenced to death, which resulted in the Battle of Marinefordin an all-out clash of powers. Ace was freed, but he sacrificed his life to protect his younger brother from Akainu. His death ultimately proved to be the catalyst leading to Luffy to train for two years to become strong enough to protect his friends, paving the way for the second half of the series.
