For the past years, fans have been asking Nintendo to give Mario a second chance on the big screen since the franchise live-action movie bombed at the box office back in 1993. And the company has finally answered fans. Game Radar is reporting that Nintendo is developing a Super Mario animated movie.
According to the site, the company is developing a Super Mario CG animated movie under the supervision of the franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto. The announcement was allegedly part of the Nintendo’s ‘Corporate Management Policy Briefing.’
Nintendo says The Super Mario movie is “scheduled for theatrical release in 2022” and “production is moving ahead smoothly”. This not a live-action movie adaptation but it’s a positive step towards building fans trust.
The Super Mario CG animated film is scheduled for release in 2020. Nintendo has yet to announce the film cast or staff members.
