New Warriors: Live-action TV Show Won’t Air On Freeform.

THR is reporting that Marvel‘s live-action TV series adaptation of New Warriors will no longer air on Freeform. Instead the television series will be shopped naround to other outlets.

It was reported back in April that the half-hour scripted superhero comedy series will air at the Disney-owned cable network. Now source says that the 10-episode series from Kevin Biegel (Enlisted) could land at Disney‘s forthcoming subscription streaming service.

New Warriors live-action TV series pilot episode has allegedly “tested through the roof and caught the attention of high-level Disney executives.”

The original New Warriors were created by editor Tom DeFalco who brought together a number of Marvel’s fictional character; Firestar, Marvel Boy, Namorita, Nova Speedball and Night Thrasher, to form a team of young super heroes. The team debuted in late 1989’s Thor #411 before quickly landing their own ongoing series.

New Warriors tells the story of six young heroes trying to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.

Marvel’s New Warriors will star Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal, Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) as Speedball, Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) as Microbe, Kate Comer (The Comeback) as Debrii and Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl.
