Aquaman and Shazam! movie producer, Peter Safran, has revealed that James Gunn’s Suicide Squad film is “total reboot” a will be called The Suicide Squad. Safran made the reveal in a recent interview with JoBlo.
“We don’t call it Suicide Squad 2 ‘cause it’s a total reboot, so it’s The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it. It’s everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know that we will deliver a lot.”
Safran says Disney rehiring James Gunn as Guardians of the Galaxy 3 director wint affect production for the new Suicide Squad movie.
“all handled incredibly elegantly and everybody knows on both sides that Suicide Squad is the priority today and he’ll finish that movie and then everybody knows that his next film will be Guardians. It’s the best of all possible both worlds.”
James Gunn is set to direct DC Comics’ Suicide Squad 2 and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 after the Disney reinstated him as writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 last week after the company fired him last year July following the resurfacing of controversial jokes he made on Twitter were dugout.
Gunn‘s Suicide Squad Will allegedly feature a roster of new DC characters who did not appear in 2016 version of David Ayer. However, several characters including Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Rick Flagg are slated to make a return.
According to reports, Warner Bros. and DC Comics eyeing British actor , Idris Elba, to replace Will Smith as DeadShot. Smith had to leave the role due to scheduling conflicts.
THE SUICIDE SQUAD will go first, to shoot late fall of this year and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 would follow.
