Deadline reporting that the new live-action film adaptation of Mattel “Masters of the Universe” toy collection is being pushed back to March 5, 2021, instead of it previously announced release date of December 18, 2019.
Sony Pictures relaunch of Masters of the Universe film will be directed by Aaron and Adam Nee, with scripts by Matt Holloway and Art Mercum. David Goyer serving as executive producer on the project. Production on the film begins in August in Prague, Czech Republic. Noah Centineo will replace Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.
Created by Mattel, Masters of the Universerevolves around the conflict between the heroic He-Man, real name Prince Adam, and the evil Skeletor on the planet Eternia. The toy collection francise was launched in 1982. The franchise has since spawned a variety of products, including six lines of action figures, four animated television series, several comic series, a daily newspaper comic strip, and the 1987’s live-action film adaptation starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.
