Nova could be make his way to the MCU soon. According MCU Cosmic, sources close to the project says Marvel Studios is already making serious moves on a standalone Nova movie. Could be a possibility since Disney announced that they have plan for eight untitled Marvel Cinematic Universe movies… Also Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo, revealed in recent interview with comicbook.com that the best chance of Nova appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be in a Guardians of the Galaxy film.
“I think that exists more in the Guardians universe,” Russo told ComicBook.com. “That would have to be a James Gunn thing. But again, we just had too many characters on our plate. And you can’t introduce somebody who doesn’t have their own movie like [Captain] Marvel. You can’t just throw them into the final chapter of a book.”
Early this year Kevin Feige revealed Nova was a big part of Guardians of the Galaxy film universe.
Nova is… if we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].
Gunn already introduced the Nova Corps, the intergalactic police force which leads to Nova gaining his superhuman abilities. Nova/Richard Rider first made his appearance in The Man Called Nova #1 (September 1976). The fictional character was created by Marv Wolfman and John Romita Sr.
