The Eternals new title seems like an attempt by Marvel Studios to distance themselves from DC movies.

Marvel Studios revealed today that THE ETERNALS movie will now be called ETERNALS, simply removing “THE” from the film title. Seems like Marvel Studios wants to this themselves from DC. The studio previously announced that the film will be moved from this November to February 12th, 2021 due to COVID-19. Eternals delay could be the reason, Marvel has yet released any footage from the film.

The Eternals will be set millions of years ago focusing on The Celestials and Deviants with a focus on Ikaris and Sersi. The Eternals and The Deviants are an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth instigated by the alien Celestials.

The film is directed by Chloé Zhao, written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. It is the twenty-fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The Eternals casts include Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris: An Eternal fueled by cosmic energy, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari: An Eternal. She is the first deaf superhero in the MCU. Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak: The leader of the Eternals, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Gemma Chan as Sersi.Chan previously portrayed Minn-Erva in the MCU film Captain Marvel. Kit Harington as Dane Whitman: A superhero who wields a sword. Additionally, Haaz Sleiman has been cast in an undisclosed role.
