A new promotional video for “Lupin III: The First” has been released. Dragon Quest: Your Story and Stand by Me Doraemon film director, Takashi Yamazaki, will direct the CG animated film. Yamazaki also wrote the film scripts. Marza Animation Planet is handling the animation production.
Lupin III: The First follows Lupin on an adventure to uncover the secrets of the Bresson Diary, which is tied to the legacy of his famous grandfather. Lupin will partner with a woman named Leticia to acquire the Bresson Diary, a treasure that guarantees great fortune to anyone who can unravel its secrets.
Lupin The 3rd manga creator Monkey Punch (real name, Kazuhiko Kato ) died of pneumonia on the 11th of April. He was 81 years old.
Monkey Punch launched Lupin III in the first issue of the magazine Weekly Manga Action on August 10, 1967. The series was meant to be a three-month but went on to become an extremely popular and successful franchise, spawning numerous manga, five animated television series, seven animated feature films, two live-action films, three OVAs, music CDs, video games, and a musical. Monkey Punch himself even directed the 1996 film, Dead or Alive.
Lupin III: The First will premiere on December 6th.
