Back in May, Sony announced that the studio had cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kick-Ass) as Kraven the Hunter for the Spider-Man spinoff movie. Reports are now suggesting that Kraven will face Spider-Man’s first villain, Chameleon, in the solo movie.
The Illuminerdi has revealed that Sony is looking to cast an actor in their 30s to portray the villain Chameleon in the Kraven movie. The site says it is not sure if he will be the only antagonist to appear, but states that Chameleon will have a “significant presence in the film.”
In the comics, Dmitri Smerdyakov a.k.a. Chameleon is Sergei Kravinoff / Kraven’s half-brother. The Dmitri character is a master of disguises, known for his ability to impersonate virtually anybody. This means the film could center around a family feud between Kraven and Chameleon. Smerdyakov was portrayed by Numan Acar in Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s not certain if the actor will reprise his role in Kraven
Directed by J.C. Chandor, the film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the hunter. The Marvel movie will also include Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, John David Washington and Adam Driver.
Kraven is schedule for release in theaters Jan. 13, 2023.
