The official Twitter account for the Kingdom anime revealed on Monday a new key visual featuring general Wu Meng, one of the “Four Pillars” of Lü Buwei and father of Meng Tian and Meng Yi.
Kingdom season 3 will be produced by a new production studio. The manga series author and illustrator, Yasuhisa Hara, will supervise the new anime. In addition, Masakazu Morita, Jun Fukuyama, and Rie Kugimiya will reprise their role as Shin (Xin), Ei Sei (Yin Zheng), and Karyō Ten (He Liao Diao) respectively.
The anime show first season premiered in 2012. The anime show’s second season premiered in 2013. Both seasons were produced by Studio Pierrot but receive criticism for its animation and lack of action. Sony Pictures Japan is allegedly developing three more movies. Kingdom live-action movie adaptation grossed over 5 billion Yen at the Japanese box office. Shinsuke Satō directed the first movie which opens in theaters in April. The manga series inspired a three-minutes live-action short in 2016 to celebrate the manga’s 10th anniversary. In addition, the sequel will go into production this winter.
Kingdom manga series originated from two one-shots Hara drew on Li Mu and Meng Wu. The manga launched in Weekly Young Jump magazine on January 26, 2006. Hara also drew an announcement illustration for the 3rd season.
