Netflix has announced that it will be adapting Mark Millar’s The Magic Order comic book into a live-action television series. The web series will be executive produced by James Wan (Aquaman) and Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking), with Wan also directing the pilot episode and Beer serving as writer/showrunner on the series.

The Magic Order is also Netflix’s first published comic book series after the streaming service company acquired Millarworld (Wanted, Kick-Ass, Kingsman) back in 2017. Other Mark Millar properties being adapted by the streaming service are Jupiter’s Legacy, American Jesus, Empress, Huck and Sharkey The Bounty Hunter, which were greenlighted last year.

In the series, five families of magicians sworn to protect our world must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among everyday people as neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness, unless the darkness gets them first.

No premiere date for The Magic Order has been announced.
