HBO Max is slowly becoming the house of DC Comics with the current DC Universe original shows moving to the streaming service. THR cited in their story about James Gunn working on the Peacemaker spinoff series, that J.J. Abrams is developing a Zatanna supernatural show. However, the site didn’t reveal any info.
Zatanna made her first live-action debut portrayed by actress Serinda Swan in the final three seasons of Smallville. The Zatanna series could be an attempt at introducing the Justice League Dark Universe as THR also states that J.J. Abrams is working on another supernatural show featuring Constantine. We already know the producer is working on Justice League Dark project and with both characters being members of the team and having a history together, it is likely we will get to see a crossover of some sort which will introduce the JLD.
Zatanna is the daughter of magician Giovanni “John” Zatara and Sindella, a member of the mystical species Homo magi. She was created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson and made her first appearance in Hawkman #4 published in November 1964. Zatanna can cast magic spells by speaking the words of her incantations spelled backward.
