Guardians of the Galaxy 4 will likely feature a new team of mischief heroes. Director James Gunn made the reveal in a recent comment on Instagram. Gunn was asked during a Q&A with fans on Instagram if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last entry of the franchise or whether there will be another movie featuring the characters. The director revealed that Vol.3 will probably be his last Guardians movie and the last with the current team.
“It’s probably my last one,” Gunn revealed , “and probably the last with the current team. But you never know!”
This wouldn’t be a surprise considering recent reports suggesting that Marvel Studios is looking to introduce a new team of The Avengers and a new version of the current superheroes. We already know Natalie Portman will replace Chris Hemsworth as the new God of Thunder in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Marvel allegedly also want Riri Williams’ IronHeart to replace Tony Stark as the new IronMan following is demise in Endgame. Guardians of the Galaxy 4 team will likely feature Nova, Adam Warlock, Beta Ray, and Captain Marvel.
James Gunn is set to direct DC Comics’ reboot of Suicide Squad and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 after Disney reinstated him as writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The company fired Gunn July 2018 following the resurfacing of controversial jokes he made on Twitter were dugout. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will start in February of 2021.
