The official website for Golgo 13 announced on Friday that the manga series written and illustrated by Takao Saito has broken the Guinness World Record of the manga series with the highest number of volumes in circulation for a single-title series. The new volume was published Big on July 5. Saito has been publishing the Golgo 13 in Shogakukan’s Big Comic magazine since October 1968. The author was congratulated by numerous authors, including Detective Conan author, Gosho Aoyama.
Golgo 13 is the oldest manga still in publication and has sold 300 million copies. It is also the second-best-selling manga series and the top-selling Seinen manga series in history. The manga series has been adapted into two live-action films, an anime film, an original video animation, an anime television series, and six video games.

The series follows a professional assassin by the name of Duke Togo. His age and birthplace are unknown, and there is no consensus in the worldwide intelligence community as to his true identity. Most of his jobs are completed through the use of a customized, scoped M16 rifle. Besides Duke Togo, Golgo 13’s other aliases include Tadashi Togo and Togo Rodriguez.
A spin-off of the series was also announced and will be starting soon.
