Ewan McGregor More Excited About The Obi-Wan Series Than His Last Two Star Wars Movies

The Star Wars Series Stars Shooting Spring Next Year.

Following the success of The Mandalorian LucasFilm and Disney have announced that the franchise will be releasing new projects in different formats including an Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Star Wars series with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the Master Jedi. Fans of the franchise were really positive when the series was announced and looks like they are not the only ones. McGregor tells the Empire Podcast that is “more excited about doing’ the Obi-Wan series than ‘Star Wars: Episodes II & III

“I’m more excited about doing this one than I was doing the second and third one that we did before,” he told Empire. “I’m just excited about working with Deborah Chow [director, who also directed episodes of The Mandalorian], and the storylines are going to be really good I think. I’m just excited to play him again. It’s been long enough since I played him before.”

The Obi-Wan series will be set eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith – approximately around the time Solo: A Star Wars Story – and will feature a young Kenobi. The actor recently told EW that the Star Wars series will begin shooting “spring next year”. He also revealed that Obi-Wan will only be “a standalone season.”

“As I understand, it’s a standalone season. We’ll see. Who knows?”
