Last week Sony Pictures revealed that the company won’t be releasing its major films until the coronavirus pandemic is over. However, that doesn’t stop the studio from expending their Spider-verse. Fandomwire is reporting that Sony is developing a Spider-Girl live-action movie based on Anya Corazon, the half Puerto Rican, half Mexican super-heroine.
In the comics, Corazon gained her ability after a mage performed a ritual on her giving her a spider-shaped tattoo. In addition to her spider-like powers, she has a spider-like exoskeleton that she can sprout at will covering most of her body like a bug-like bluish skin. She first goes by the name of Araña before changing it to Spider-Girl.
Sony’s Spider-verse already has Morbius the Living Vampire, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man 3 dropping next year. Other projects in development include the newly announced Kraven the Hunter film, Spider-Woman, Black Cat, Silver Sable, Nightwatch, Silk, and Jackpot.
It will really be interesting to see how Sony’s Spider-Verse will connect all these project and maybe have their own team-up.
