Joaquin Phoenix offered $50 million to portray Joker again.

Todd Phillips’ Joker became the first Rated-R movie to reach $1 billion milestones at the box office. The film received numerous nominations, winning Best Actor and Best Original Score at the 92nd Academy Awards. Making Joaquin Phoenix the second actor to win an Oscar for portraying the Joker following Heath Ledger in 2009.

The Mirror reporting that Phoenix has been offered $50 million to portray Joker in two sequels. British tabloid claimed Phoenix is open to the idea of continuing the story despite reports that the film will be standalone.

They plan to make two sequels in the next four years, with a long-term commitment to Joaquin and his Joker director Todd Phillips and producer Bradley Cooper. It’s all about getting Joaquin to accept the terms – and the biggest payday of his career by far.

The Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond. Phillips directed and co-wrote the scripts with Scott Silver.

The Joker was created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson. The fictional character first appeared in the debut issue of the comic book Batman (April 25, 1940), published by DC Comics. He was planned to be killed off during his first appearance, but thanks to an editorial intervention, the character went on to become Batman archenemy and one of the most iconic supervillains in comic book history.
