Back in 2018, Geoff Johns revealed that he was hard at work crafting the script Green Lantern Corps movie. Furthermore, in November Variety reported that Johns had the end of the year to turn in the script for both the movie and the HBO Max’s Green Lantern television series. It looks Johns is done has reached both deadlines.
During an interview with Newsarama, Johns revealed that he was done with some of his projects including two out of comics “Green Lantern” projects.
“It’s a really exciting year to have Doomsday Clock finished up. I’m doing more comics. Stargirl trailer’s out. [Wonder Woman 1984] is on its way. And a lot of work with Green Lantern outside comics that hopefully you’ll hear about soon. I feel very, very lucky I work on the characters I do with the people I do. I couldn’t be more fortunate, and it’s been a time-intensive and challenging year, but a good one.”
Green Lantern Corps was described as a “Lethal Weapon in space” kind movie focusing on John Stewart, Hal Jordan, and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. The film was once scheduled for July 24, 2020. But looks like it all changed.
The first Green Lantern was released on June 17, 2011, grossing only $219 million against a production budget of $200 million due to the film’s negative reception.
