MCU fans were shocked on Tuesday after they learn that Sony had terminator their partnership deal with Disney to have Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now Sony Pictures has confirmed that Marvel Studio president, Kevin Feige, as been removed as the lead producer in the next Spider-Man film.

Sony Pictures’ official Twitter account released a statement on saying that they were “disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer” of the next live-action Spider-Man film. Sony decided to pull the character because of an inability by Disney and the company to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. However, director Jon Watts and Tom Holland are still part of Spider-Man future films.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Captain America: Civil War (2016), with Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) also being part of the MCU. Far From Home was the last movie of the MCU phase 4.
