Avatar 2 has wrapped filming for 2019. The Avatar movie franchise official Twitter account made the announcement on Friday. The account revealed that the movie crew wrapped live-action filming for the year on Novembre 29. The movie Twitter account shared a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of what they described as an “aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels. “
The Avatar sequel also wrapped performance capture filming back in May and later started shooting the live-action performance in New Zealand. James Cameron revealed back in 2017 that the film will feature an underwater world like Atlantis.
We’ve already been doing underwater capture. We did a scene last week with six teenagers, well, actually five teenagers and one 7-year-old underwater holding their breath for a couple of minutes and acting, actually doing a dialogue scene underwater because they speak kind of a sign language.
Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Christie Digital are allegedly working on a new RGB laser projection systems that will exclude the need for 3D glasses to watch a 3D film for Avatar 2 and the remaining sequels. The technology will provide crystal clear, sharp images, eliminating 3D glasses.
Avatar 2 is set to hit theaters in December 2021, with the other three movies slated to be released in 2022, 2025 and 2027, respectively. Returning cast members include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang, and Sigourney Weaver. The Avatar is the 2nd highest-grossing film worldwide with over $2.7 billion in box office gross.
