Captain Marvel 2 finally has a director. Deadline and Variety reporting that Marvel Studio has hired Candyman reboot director, Nia DaCosta, to helmet the movie sequel. It was previously revealed that the first movie’s directors Anne Bowden and Ryan Fleck would not be returning back for the sequel. WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell wrote the script of the sequel.
Kevin Feige is said to have been meeting with candidates, but DaCosta “seemed to have the edge for some time.” Back in January it was revealed that Feige is said was looking for a female director to helmet the Captain Marvel sequel.
The first Captain Marvel movie earned around $1.1 billion worldwide. The sequel will allegedly take in the present day and will see Brie Larson reprise her role as Carol Danvers in the movie.
The film is currently eyeing a 2022 release.
