Marvel Studios has finally kicked off production on the second installment of Captain Marvel. The studio has hired WandaVision series’ writer Megan McDonnell to pen Captain Marvel 2. McDonnell will replace Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who co-wrote and also directed the first Captain Marvel film. Kevin Feige is said to be looking for a female director to helmet the Captain Marvel sequel.
The first Captain Marvel movie earned around $1.1 billion worldwide. The sequel will allegedly take in the present day and will see Brie Larson reprise her role as Carol Danvers in the movie.
Captain Marvel 2 is currently eyeing a 2022 release.
