Black Clover anime stuff announced at the Jump Festa ’20 event on Saturday that Showtaro Morikubo will voice Akuma/Devil of Kotodama in the series. The staff also revealed a new key visual from the anime show the presentation.
In the manga, Devils are an ancient race of magical beings that dwell in the underworld. They are known to wield formidable and frightening forms of magic, such as Anti Magic and Kotodama Magic. However, they can only appear in the living world if a mage uses Forbidden Magic and a sacrifice to summon a devil and use its power. So far in the anime, Asta is the only one known to possess the Devil race magic.
The series began airing in Japan in October 2017. The anime is currently in the battle of humans vs. elves are. The show is being directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara (Monster Musume, Yatterman Night, Muromi-san, Long Riders!). Itsuko Takeda (Ristorante Paradiso, Level E, Blue Drop) is the character designer and Kumiko Tokunaga (2nd season of Kingdom) is the sub-character designer.
Tabata launched Black Clover (Burakku Kurōbā) manga series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in Japan in February 2015. Viz Media is publishing manga in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital anthology magazine in North America. An original video animation produced by Xebec had its first trailer released on November 27, 2016.
Black Clover follows a young boy named Asta, seemingly born without any magic power, something that is unknown in the world he lives in. With his ambition, newfound abilities, and friends, he aims to be the Wizard king.
