Like the title already suggested, another Batman villain is set to make a debut in Batwoman. Deadline is reporting that Peter Outerbridge has been cast as Black Mask for the show’s second season. Unlike the version of the character in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey movie, Outerbridge will portray a more sadistic version of the kingpin. Black Mask was created by Doug Moench and Tom Mandrake. He made his first appearance in Batman #386 (Aug. 1985).
Roman Sionis is a kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld who killed his wealthy and utterly self-absorbed parents to inherit their fortune and business. However, his lack of business acumen led him to eventually ruined the Company. Seeking to take revenge on those he blamed for his – particularly Bruce Wayne – he formed a gang called the False Face Society.

Outerbridge’s Roman Sionis will be a knight in shining armor during fighting against Gotham’s corrupt systems and an evil mastermind with a deep hatred of The Crows and masked vigilantes by night, as Black Mask. Batwoman’s Black Mask is willing to tear down Gotham to enact his revenge.
Season two kicks off with a major game-changer that will alter Gotham and The Bat Team forever. As the dust settles, Batwoman has everything working against her – including the recently escaped rogues’ gallery of villains – and everyone will come to see her in a whole new light. Alice meets her match when she becomes entangled with a dangerous foe from her past who knows exactly how to prey on her vulnerabilities. As Luke (Camrus Johnson) and Mary (Nicole Kang) find their footing as sidekicks, a romance will shake up their dynamic. Meanwhile, Sophie (Megan Tandy) and Julia’s (guest star Christina Wolfe) budding relationship will face its first real test and make Sophie question everything she thought she knew to be true.
