Netflix's Baki season 2 will cover the "Great Raitai Tournament Saga and Kami no Ko Gekitotsu arc of the manga. The new Baki season will air on June 4, 2020.

Baki: The Great Raitai Tournament Saga, the second season of Netflix ‘s Baki anime, trailer has been released. Netflix also unveiled the new season’s key visual. Baki season 2 will be based on the “Great Raitai Tournament Saga” and “Kami no Ko Gekitotsu” (The Clash of the Children of Gods) arc of the manga. It will also feature a side story focusing on the “Revenge Tokyo”. The side stories will center around the death row convicts from the previous season.


Baki inspired a 45-minute OVA released in 1994. The manga first television anime series aired between January 8 and June 25, 2001.The second series from July 22 to December 24, 2001. Netflix’s Baki Original net animation (ONA) first season of was released between June to December 2018. The series’s second cour aired in March 2019. Netflix announced on March 19, 2019, that their ONA was renewed for a second season. The streaming service announced on March 5, 2020, that the main staff TMS Entertainment would be returning to produce the second season with the addition of a new character designer and art director. The second season is scheduled to release exclusively on Netflix on June 4, 2020. Its opening theme song is performed by Granrodeo and its ending theme is performed by Ena Fujita.

TMS Entertainment, the studio behind Lupin III and ReLIFE, is producing the animation and Toshiki Hirano is the anime series director. Hirano directorial work includes Rayearth, Dangaioh, and Magic Kaito: Kid the Phantom Thief. In addition, Tatsuhiko Urahata will write the series scripts. Urahata previously worked on DNA², Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, and Tsuredure Children animeseries. Fujio Suzuki (Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo) and Shingo Ishikawa (Tetsujin 28: Morning Moon of Midday) will design the characters. The censored anime series will broadcast on television, and the adult version will stream on the ComicFesta Anime website.

Written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki, Baki the Grappler was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1991 to 1999. The manga series received three sequels; Baki (New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero) ran from 1999 to 2005, Baki Hanma ( Baki: Son of Ogre) from 2005 to 2012 , and Baki-Dou from 2014 to 2018. A new Baki Dou is currently being serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion. The series was launched on October 4, 2018.

The protagonist, Baki Hanma, trains with an intense focus to become strong enough to surpass his father, Yujiro Hanma, the strongest fighter in the world. Five of the world’s most violent and brutal death row inmates are gathering to face Baki. Their objective is to taste defeat — their unmatched strength and skill have led them to grow bored of life itself, and they now seek out Baki in the hopes that he can overwhelm and utterly crush them. In this crisis, other underground martial art warriors gather to fight by Baki’s side: Kaoru Hanayama, Gouki Shibukawa, Retsu Kaioh, and Doppo Orochi. An epic showdown between violent death row inmates and Baki and his friends begins!
