Arrow Writer to Pen Prophet live-action Adaptation film.

Deadline reporting that Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim has been brought onboard by Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 to pen a big-screen adaptation of John Prophet, the comic book character by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld. The move is intended to launch a new franchise by on the Image Comics character.

Robinov, John Graham, and Guy Danella will oversee the Image Comics project for the studio with Liefeld, Adrian Askarieh (Hitman: Agent 47), and Brooklyn Weaver (Run All Night) serving as the project producers. John Hyde and Terissa Kelton will also produce in capacities.

John Prophet, a poor and homeless man living in the World War II era, volunteered to participate in the medical experiments of Dr. Horatio Wells, a time-traveling scientist from the future who used DNA-enhancing methods to transform Prophet into a supersoldier.

Created by Rob Liefeld, Prophet first appeared in Youngblood #2 in July 1992. He was originally set to appear in the pages of Marvel Comics’ X-Force. According to Liefeld, Prophet was pulled out because he decided that he was going to work on stuff that was creator-owned.
