Gintama new Theatrical Film In Development. The movie might be a spin-off.

According to new reports, a new Gintama film is currently in production. Details about the Gintama film characters and the format are still unknown but the rumor suggests that it is a theatrical version and maybe a spin-off. 





Gintama or Silver Soul in English, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi and serialized in 2003, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump. A light novel adaptation written by Tomohito Ōsaki and Illustrated by Sorachi began running in Jump jBooks on February 3, 2006, till present. Sorachi published the manga final chapter on the Gintama app on June 17, after it was announced by Shueisha’s official Twitter account.

A TV anime series adaptation of the manga debuted on April 4, 2006, on TV Tokyo and ended March 25, 2010. A sequel titled Gintama’ first premiered in Japan on April 4, 2011, and ended on March 26, 2012, before returning once again for a brief run from October 4, 2012, to March 28, 2013.

A continuation of the TV anime series began airing on April 8, 2015, and ended on March 30, 2016. The series’ final arc began running in July 2016 and carried on till 2017. The Silver Soul Arc, also the 64th and final arc in Gintama series, and also the longest arc in the entire series began airing January 7th, 2018. The anime series received two anime films, Gintama: The Movie (2010) and Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya (2013). A live-action film adaptation of the same name was released on July 14, 2017, in Japan by Warner Bros. Pictures. The live-action film sequel Gintama 2 released in Japan, 17 August 2018. The movie was directed by Yūichi Fukuda, starring Shun Oguri.

Set in Edo which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the manga follows samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura in order to pay the monthly rent.
