Shueisha’s Jump J-Books imprint have revealed that the manga website will be launching a new novel based on Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga series on June 4. The new novel titled Naruto: Kakashi Retsuden: Rokudaime Hokage to Ochikobore no Shōnen (Naruto: Kakashi Biography: The Sixth Hokage and the Leftover Boy) will be by Jun Esaka with cover-art by Kishimoto.

In the novel, Kakashi finds himself far away in a country deep in a mountain range, seeking a legend about the Sage of Six Paths. There, he finds that after the king of the country died, and his daughter became queen, the country has seen no rain. The son of the king is called the “leftover boy,” and Kakashi decides to train the boy to become a young leader.

Naruto the manga ended its 15 year run back in 2014. The series was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 1999 till 2014. The TV anime show adaptation ended March 23, 2017 with Naruto Shippūden anime’s 500th episode – the 720th episode in the Naruto anime franchise. The first Naruto TV series aired back in October 2002 and ran to 2007. Later that same year, the current series Naruto Shippūden was launched. The manga author new project Samurai 8: Hachimaruden will launch in May in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.

Mirei Miyamoto and Masashi Kishimoto original light novel “Naruto Shinden” (Naruto: Naruto New Story) is also being adapated into a new TV anime series adaptation. The novel began publication with Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls in 2016, but was not formalised until it was relaunched from May to July 2018, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Shueisha Jump jBooks. The novel was meant to be bridge between Naruto and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations series but shifted the focus to Naruto and his companions’ learning to become parents, and their relationships with their children.
