Disney unveiled on Thursday 11 new character posters for the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King, giving us a closer look at the CGI animated characters. The film directed by Jon Favreau also features on the Magazine May cover issue.

The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The original Lion King animated film was released in 1994. The animated film was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, with a screenplay by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. The film original songs were written by Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, and original scores were written by Hans Zimmer. The Lion King earned $968.5 million on the Box office with a budget of $45 million.

The Lion King stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

The Lion King animated CGI movie is slated for July 19, 2019.
